Ken Dickson BAcc(Hons), FCMA, CGMA

Ken Dickson is the founder and Managing Director of Axiom-e.

Ken provides board-level input and advice with a particular focus on business planning, fund-raising and strategic financial management. A company director for over 30 years, his board responsibilities have included Finance, IT and Personnel.

He now uses this experience to help the next generation of entrepreneurs in countries such as Dubai, Nigeria, UK and Zambia by running courses that he has developed, such as The Pillars Of Business Success .

He has a BAcc (Hons) degree from the University of Glasgow and an Executive MBA equivalent having attended the Unilever Business Education Programme at London and Bradford Business Schools.

In support of Axiom-e's services, Ken maintains membership of several business and accounting associations including:
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • Management Accounting Research Group
Ken is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and Fellow (FCMA) of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the world's leading professional body for accountants in industry. He is a Registered Member in Practice (MiP) (with Practising Certificate) and sat on CIMA's MiP Assessment Panel for a number of years.

Before establishing Axiom-e, Ken gained more than 20 years of international business experience in leading multi-national companies such as:
  • Unilever
  • Sterling Drug 
  • Rexam
  • Redbridge Holdings
  Ken's eclectic mix of clients includes:
  • early stage companies
  • start-ups including a national charity
  • a high-tech engineering/manufacturing organisation
  • an early-stage vaccine developer
  • a leading recruitment company
  • a software developer
  • an overseas recycling company
  • high-tech University spin-outs
  • schools and Universities.
He has raised finance ranging from GBP20,000 of asset backed finance to GBP4m of VC funding and has helped to secure more than GBP3m of funding from Innovate UK.

Ken has acted as Director of various other clients in the past and is currently Director, Company Secretary or Advisor of a number of organisations including:
  • Dragonmobility - a unique social enterprise which transforms lives by designing, building and supplying specialist, highly versatile powerchairs for very active disabled people.
  • Excivion Ltd - a company focused on developing new vaccines for a changing world.
  • City Church (Cambridge) - part of the Relational Mission family of churches

For some years he was the Strategic Accountant at, and helped to run, The Moller Centre at Churchill College, in the University of Cambridge:  a leading dedicated residential management training and conference centre where he also developed content for courses that he ran for staff and clients in the UK and elsewhere.

Over the years, Ken has used his business skills to help a number of local, national and international charities, churches and voluntary associations, including a new University being established in Zambia.

He has been a volunteer advisor at the Cambridge Money Advice Centre which aims to help individuals "get out and keep out of debt" .

When not working, Ken likes to climb mountains and go mountain-biking, especially in his native Scotland with his "Munro-bagging" wife.

He also likes to paddle his kayak, preferably on faster flowing rivers than are found in East Anglia!
